Lucy's curled up in a pile of leaves.

She's still, mostly, in a grand mood, which is what really must be the case when one's husband has stopped, as she puts it, "being stupid," and when there's a mug of hot chocolate to warm you on a cool day, and when even though you're not sleeping all that much more you find you're not as tired as you were a week ago.

So she can curl up in the leaves and look at the clouds, as Corella's been cared for, and hum to herself a little.

She considers, and then says, contentedly, "Very, very, very well," which is true, but not as true as it would be if she added "shagged" to the end of that sentence.

She sounds pleased, at least.

"You?"

Adam coughs, a bit, and laughs, but smiles.

"I'm well, I suppose."

Not nearly so well as Lucy, apparently.

"You should QUITE well."

"Well, I am. Said I was, didn't I?" she points out, glancing over at him with a small smile.

All right, so, she still likes Adam.

Next question; is she angry with him?

Debate, debate, debate...

Conclusion: The Antichrist is a giant git, so yep. Probably. Does she bring it up, now...well, it probably wouldn't do much good.

And he's trying, she's certain, even if he did kick her, so it would be rude.

"You did say so. I have to say, it's nice to see."

"Well, if Caspian weren't stupid it would happen more, so it's not my fault," she says, and it's a bit sulky again.

She doesn't want to not be very, very, very well. She so doesn't deserve blame for this. Nope.

He doesn't want to know the answer to this, he doesn't want to-

"How's Caspian stupid?"

"He wouldn't let me snog him," she says, and it's quite sulky as she glares in the direction of the lake. "And then he got all jealous over Lilly, which was just silly."

"Why wouldn't he let you-"

No, wait.

"why was he jealous over Lilly?"

Promptly, "Because he's stupid."

Silly Adam. She said that. It's the details, like how, that you need to ask about.

Very. very. slowly.

"What did you do, Lucy?"

Adam thinks she did something? Adam?! Lucy did nothing!

She looks very, very hurt as she says, "Nothing. It's not my fault Lilly offered to sweep me away for fun once or twice. I only told him if he were being hugged by strange women I'd just have to do something drastic like run to her for comfort, but he wasn't, so I don't understand why he was so stupid over it. Besides, she's pretty and offers to sweep nearly everyone away, because she's Lilly, and I wouldn't have said he wouldn't have to worry about me kissing her if he were kissing me if he'd just done it, would I?"

Perfectly logical.

Adam. . . blinks.

"Are you alright, Lucy?"

"I thought I told you I was already," she points out, a bit confused.

"Yes, right. You're happy. I'm glad. You just seem a bit . . . off."

"I am not."

Why do people keep saying that? It's getting irritating.

"Being happy does not make on 'off'," she says with great dignity.

"No, it doesn't."

It's all those OTHER things.

"Then I do not see why you'd say I'm off," she says, sounding a bit irritated.

"Because you don't seem yourself. ...not even your HAPPY self."

"Why?" Lucy demands.

"Because you DON'T. Lucy, it's -

nevermind."

"Fine. Shan't. You get to say that because you're you, after all, don't you?" she grumps and crosses her arms.

So unfair.

"I get to say ... nevermind? Because I'm me? So far's I know, letting a subject drop is the choice of anybody able to discuss a subject."

"Fine," she says again.

She was in such a good mood, and he just had to come and kick her and now it's ruined.

"You're right, of course."

"I am?"

He's not actually, at this point, quite sure what he's right about.

"Yes. Of course." Her smile's bright. "Anything else?"
